Invisalign (Clear Aligners)
Also called: clear aligners, invisible braces
Clear aligners, often known by the brand Invisalign, are a series of custom, see-through trays that move teeth a little at a time. You swap to a new tray every week or two. They are removable for eating and brushing and are far less visible than traditional braces.
What to expect
- A digital scan maps your teeth and plans each stage of movement.
- You wear each tray most of the day and switch on a set schedule.
- Treatment usually runs several months to a couple of years.
Questions to ask a practice
- Am I a good candidate for clear aligners, or are braces better for my case?
- How many hours a day must I wear them, and how disciplined do I need to be?
- What is the full cost, including retainers and any refinements?
