Dental veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells of porcelain or composite resin bonded to the front surfaces of teeth. They transform the color, shape, size, and alignment of your smile. Veneers can correct stained, chipped, worn, gapped, or slightly misaligned teeth — often called 'instant orthodontics' for the dramatic transformation.

What to expect
The veneer process typically takes 2–3 visits. First visit: consultation and smile design — your dentist discusses your goals and may create a digital preview. Second visit: the dentist removes a thin layer of enamel (about 0.5mm), takes impressions, and places temporary veneers. Third visit (1–2 weeks later): the custom porcelain veneers are bonded one by one with special cement and a curing light. The result is immediate and dramatic.

How long do veneers last?

Eventual replacement is needed as the bond naturally weakens over time. Avoid biting hard objects (ice, pens, fingernails) and wear a nightguard if you grind your teeth.
Do veneers damage your natural teeth?
A small amount of enamel (about 0.5mm) must be removed for porcelain veneers to fit naturally without looking bulky. This is irreversible. Composite veneers may require little to no enamel removal. Once placed, a tooth with veneers will always need some form of restoration. An experienced cosmetic dentist minimizes enamel removal.
Veneers vs. bonding — which is better?
Porcelain veneers are more durable, stain-resistant, and natural-looking, but cost more and require enamel removal. Dental bonding (composite) is less expensive, can often be done in one visit without enamel removal, but stains over time and lasts only 5–7 years.
