Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy and completed his Oral and Maxillofacial residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. After completing 13 years of active duty, he continued in the Naval Reserves achieving the rank of Captain. Dr. Trotter practiced for 14 years in the Richmond Virginia area before acquiring the practice of Dr. J. Mrazik, DDS and starting Hampton Oral & Facial Surgery.
